Tour Argolis Mycenae Nafplio Epidaurus

Our first stop is in Mycenae, the ancient city of Argolida.
Between 1600 BC until about 1100 BC Mycenae was one of the largest centres of Greek culture, a strong military fortress that dominated most of southern Greece. At the height of their glory, in 1350 BC, the castle and the city had 30,000 inhabitants.

We will let our imagination run free in front of the Cyclopean Masonry of the ancient city since the way they were constructed cannot be explained till this day.

We will visit the archaeological site where we can admire the Royal tombs the Palace, the Lion Gate, etc. but also the museum in which many of the findings brought to light by the archaeological dig are exposed, and are admired by millions of visitors from all over the world.

After this experience, coming in contact with objects and buildings that were built more than 3,000 years before us, we will leave behind Mycenae and head in the direction of the city of Nafplio. Here, we will explore the recent history of Greece, specifically the years that followed the Greek revolution of 1821.

Το Nafplio was the capital of the Greek state during the period 1828 - 1833. It is known for Bourtzi (a small fortress built on an islet in the port), for Palamidi (the Venetian fortress that dominates the city), as well as the place of the murder of John Kapodistrias, the first governor of the Greek state.

We will start our tour from Palamidi, the impressive fortress built in 1687 by the Venetians. We will have the opportunity to walk through the castle, which continues to be maintained in excellent condition and, observe the view of the sea and the whole city of Nafplio.
We will enjoy coffee or food in the port of the city with the wonderful view of Bourtzi. Following this, we will take a walk in the alleys of the old town between the mansions and the traditional shops where anyone can choose between the various souvenirs and local products.

Our journey is not over yet, after saying goodbye to the city of Nafplio, we will head to ancient Epidavros flashing back to the year 340 BC when the ancient theatre of Epidaurus was built..

Of all the ancient theatres, the theatre of Epidaurus is the most beautiful and well preserved. It has a capacity of 13,000 spectators and is divided into two parts, 21 rows of seats for the people and 34 rows of seats for priests and lords in antiquity
Its wonderful acoustics and its very good condition lead to the creation of the Epidaurus Festival, a festival of ancient drama The festival takes place every year during the summer months and has hosted the some of the most important Greek and foreign directors and actors.

We will then make our way back to Athens, full of images, presentations & stories from Ancient Greece. We hope that by the end of this tour, you would have gained a better knowledge of our country and its history whilst having enjoyed your day creating everlasting memories.
